Lahore High Court has issued notifications about the degradation of agricultural lands by housing societies.

Rawalpindi: Justice Mirza Waqas Rauf of the Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi Bench issued notices to the Director General of the Punjab Housing and Town Planning department and the Director of the Sub-Region Rawalpindi on Monday in response to a citizen’s complaint regarding violations of the master’s plan and the issuance of NOCs to private housing societies without meeting the necessary requirements.

The Punjab Secretary of Local Government and Community Development and the DG PHATPA were required by the court to provide comprehensive reports and paragraph-by-paragraph comments before February 22, 2023.

Also harming the crops were private residence projects. He asserted that the land developers and owners of the private housing societies, who are swiftly swallowing agricultural fields, had forced all government-run organizations to acquiesce.

Despite the fact that the district governments were required to provide reports on the usage of lands for the agricultural, commercial, and industrial sectors after the Punjab government passed the Punjab Land Usage (Classification, Re-Classification, and Development) Rules 2009, this is still the case.
