Matches for the eighth season of the PSL are set to take place in Lahore and Rawalpindi, as planned.

Since the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the interim Punjab government have eventually reached an agreement, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season eight matches will take place as scheduled in Lahore and Rawalpindi.

Dr. Javed Akram, the interim government’s minister of health, affirmed on Saturday to Express-News that the PSL games won’t be moved from Lahore and Rawalpindi to Karachi. Matches will be conducted as scheduled; the PCB chairman announced on his Twitter account on Sunday.

The chief minister of Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi Saheb, has kindly agreed to split the expense of lighting routes during PSL games in Lahore. The HBL PSL8 matches in Lahore and Pindi will go on as planned, Sethi wrote.

It should be noted that the PCB was originally asked for PKR 500 million by the interim Punjab government in order to host the games in Lahore and Rawalpindi. The board has already given the Punjab government PKR 50 million for food costs.

For lighting and security reasons, the provincial government then demanded the remaining PKR 450 million. The board was contemplating moving the Punjab leg of PSL 8 to Karachi in order to reduce these costs.

However, despite the government has provided funding for security, lighting, and other costs, PCB was still unwilling to contribute anything. On Sunday, Najam Sethi contacted Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister, who gave him his complete support in having matches in Punjab. PCB ultimately decided to contribute PKR100 million toward the previously stated costs.

Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi’s first match took place on February 26. Starting on March 1, Rawalpindi will hold the PSL 8 matches.
